Why did I write a book about Alzheimer’s disease? Where did the idea come from?

I’ve had my fair share of brushes with this disease. I’ve seen the devastating impact it had on those suffering from it and on those left grappling for a way to cope with it. Last year, it stuck a dagger deep into my heart when my best friend was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s.

Often, this disease robs us of closure. It leaves us with unresolved issues, unsaid things, and a complicated web of emotions, woven out of our anger, resentment, and our sadness over how those we love have changed into people we no longer recognize.

I wanted to create a book that could serve as a handbook, becoming a vehicle for empowerment, something to turn to in times that the only thing we can change is the way we choose to view our situation.
