Listening to Karma by Taylor Swift. I’m obsessed with this song.
I’ve been thinking about the solar eclipse happening very soon and the possibility that we might also catch a glimpse of Comet Pons-Brooks. It made me realize how rare this moment is. It feels like we are turning a major corner. There is an anticipation buzzing in the air that hints of change on the horizon. And although history has painted these celestial events in a negative light, I don’t buy into that.
Our world is what remains of ebbs and flows of cycles, both good and bad. We progress two steps forward and regress three steps back. The hard times illuminate our darkness. They shine a spotlight on our weaknesses. This leads to growth. Growth is painful. Our beliefs about ourselves and the world evolve. Species go extinct. But somewhere, maybe even on a far distant planet or in an alternate universe, life goes on. Whether we like it or not, civilizations are mirrors into our souls. If we don’t like what we see reflected back, we can’t blame it on a comet or an eclipse.
Clear skies willing, it should be a spectacular sight. I won’t be in the zone of totality. Where I live will only be at around 88%, but I’m still excited enough to wade through never ending eclipse appetizer and cocktail recipes. 😊
Happy Saturday!
